Lean Library / Library Access Browser Extension

What is Lean Library/Library Access?

Lean Library/Library Access is an internet browser extension that makes it easier to access full text online resources when you are offsite and not getting content via the Library website. 
When you search for articles using, for example, Google Scholar or PubMed, the Lean Library/Library Access browser extension will indicate access to full text articles available through Barwon Health Library. It will also indicate possible access on many publisher sites.
If you are not able to access full text articles, Lean Library/LibraryAccess makes it easy for you to submit a request to the Library. Register for Library Membership if you haven't already done so to use the extension.

How to install Lean Library/Library Access

1. At home, visit Downloads - Lean Library website
2. Click on Download for the browser you are using
3. Follow the prompts to add to your browser
4. Select Barwon Health Library as your library and click Save
5. The tab can be closed and the extension is ready to use

How to use Lean Library/Library Access

Once you have installed Lean Library/Library Access, visit Google Scholar to get a feel for how Lean Library/Library Access works. You will see that links for full text at Barwon Health Library are automatically added. Similarly visit PubMed and follow the instructions on the popup message to gain access to full text articles.

Firefox is supported from version 56 onward, from version 59 for ESR
Safari is supported from version 11.0 onward
Opera is supported from version 51 onward

How to uninstall Lean Library/Library Access

If you don't find the extension useful, remove it from your browser. Follow your 

  • Google Chome.
  1. Click on Custom & Control icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser window.
  2. From the dropdown box select More Tools, and then Extensions.
  3. Uncheck the box next to Enabled for this extension.
  • Firefox.
  1. Click on menu icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser window.
  2. From the dropdown box select Add-ons, and then Extensions.
  3. Click the Remove button for this extension.
  4. Click Restart now if it pops up.
  • Safari.
  1. choose Peferences from the Safari menu, then click on Extensions.
  2. select this extension from the list.
  3. Click the Uninstall button for this extension.
  • Opera.
  1. From menu or sidebar go to Extensions.
  2. You will see an "x" on the right-hand side to remove the extension
  3. (the x appears when you are hovering the listing for an extension).
