After-hours access to the library -  

  1. In Kitchener House(KHERB)the Library is accessible to Barwon Health staff 24/7 by swiping their Barwon Health ID proxy card. Staff proxy card gives access to the main entrance at Kitchener House(KHERB), and the library area .
  2. McKellar Library is accessible to staff by swiping their Barwon Health ID proxy card, at all times when able to access the Main Reception building
  3. A reminder that the main library space is designated for quiet individual study/research

Where are the Libraries?

Literature searches-   

  1. Literature Search Request Form - We can help you find evidence based information for your patient care, teaching, professional development, research, policy/protocol development, or management purposes.
  2. Book a Consultation - For library members completing assignments, or personal study, we can not do the literature search for you but we will assist you with search strategy design and database training

Library membership-  

  1. Library membership is open to all Barwon Health staff and students on placement
  2. Membership allows you to access the online resources when you are offsite and borrow print books

  1. If you are experiencing an account expired message when logging into your library account we need to update your details. Please contact the libraryor fill out a Library Membership form to update your details.

  1. You can search Lookup article by DOI or PMID to access articles by their DOI or PMID

Borrowing a book-  

  1. We have a self-check out system at the Kitchener House(KHERB) Library. It is found just inside the door of the main library space. There are instructions on the machine, or just ask one of the library staff for assistance
  2. At McKellar Centre Library there are borrowing cards inside the front cover of each of the books. Fill out the card and leave it in the green tray on the librarians desk and the loans will be processed by the librarian

Returning library books-  

  1. At Kitchener House(KHERB) there is a secure book returns box just outside the door into the main library space
  2. At McKellar Centre Library there is a book returns chute in the wall just beside the library entrance door

Reserving a book

Library Computers for use-  

  1. All computers are networked to the Barwon Health computer system so all Barwon Health programs are available for access with your log-in, including GROW and BOSSNet
  2. If you are looking for somewhere to do your workplace competencies with no interruptions the library is the place for you

Printing to the library printer-  

  1. Choose 'BH-SECURE-PRINTING' from your list of printers
  2. You will need to swipe your ID card to fax, scan or copy
  3. The first time you swipe your ID card at any printer, you will be prompted to enter your computer username and password. You'll only need to do this once
  4. Currently we are not charging for printing so we ask that you print within reason
  5. Please ensure that if printing resources you are adhering to copyright restrictions. Refer to our Copyright Information Page more information

Available WiFi-  

  1. The library does not have separate wifi available
  2. Staff can now request Wi-Fi access for their personal devices via the SWARH Self Service Portal. For more information on how to apply for access, click here.
